How to become a cab driver in Panchkula

Six steps, in the order that saves you money. Most people do steps three and four the wrong way round and pay for it.

Panchkula · Haryana rules · free to follow · no agent needed

The six steps

  1. Hold a valid driving licence

Current and in your name. If yours has lapsed, renewing it comes before everything else.

  2. Decide whose car you will drive

Owning means no rent but all the maintenance; attaching means rent or a revenue share. Read the own-car route before committing money either way.

  3. Do the commercial paperwork BEFORE buying or renting

Permit, commercial insurance and a PSV badge where it applies, through the Haryana Transport Department (RTA Panchkula). Doing this afterwards is how people end up with a car they cannot legally use for fares — see the Haryana PSV guide.

  4. Get your documents photo-ready

Licence, RC, insurance, Aadhaar or PAN. The document checklist lists what gets applications rejected.

  5. Register on a platform — free

Download the GediGoo Driver app on Google Play and upload the four documents. Registration and verification cost nothing.

  6. Go online and learn your patch

Your first week is really about learning Panchkula's demand pattern. That knowledge outperforms any incentive scheme.

What driving in Panchkula is actually like

Panchkula is a commuter town first. The morning flow is heavily one-way into Chandigarh and it reverses in the evening, with Mansa Devi Complex and the border sectors busiest of all. Weekends break the pattern entirely and push traffic towards the temple and the Kalka road.

Panchkula's sectors are laid out simply and traffic is lighter than across the border, which makes it one of the easier places in the Tricity to take your first few rides.

GediGoo charges drivers nothing to join, nothing to be verified and nothing monthly. There is no agent in Panchkula who can speed up an approval for a fee, because there is no queue to jump. Registration-fee scams are common in driver recruitment — the rule that protects you is simple: a legitimate platform takes its share out of fares you have already earned, never out of your pocket up front.
