What you need before you can legally drive passengers for hire in the Tricity — the sequence, the documents, and the parts to confirm with the RTO yourself.
Independent guide · fees and forms change — always verify with the licensing authority
Driving passengers for money is regulated. The paperwork is between you and the transport authority, not between you and any app — and no ride-hailing platform, GediGoo included, can issue it for you or drive around it. This page explains the shape of the process so you know what you are walking into. Fees, forms and timelines change, so confirm the current requirements with the licensing authority or on the official Parivahan Sewa portal before you act on anything here.
You need an existing licence for the class of vehicle you intend to drive, held for the minimum period the authority requires.
In Chandigarh that is the Registering & Licensing Authority; in Mohali, Kharar, Zirakpur or Panchkula it is the district transport office for that area. Much of it can be started on Parivahan Sewa.
Identity and address proof, photographs, and a medical certificate on the prescribed form are standard. A training or conduct certificate may also be asked for.
Once processed, the authorisation is endorsed and you are legally clear to carry passengers for hire.
The driver's badge is only half of it — the vehicle needs commercial registration, a valid permit, fitness and commercial insurance.
Valid driving licence, the PSV badge or equivalent endorsement, and identity documents for KYC.
Commercial registration, permit, fitness certificate and commercial insurance in force.
We verify the documents you upload before your account goes live. Verification is free and usually quick.
We cannot issue, fast-track or substitute for any government authorisation, and we will not put a vehicle live without valid papers.
Register in the GediGoo Driver app, upload everything from your phone, and start taking rides across Chandigarh, Mohali, Panchkula, Zirakpur and Kharar — keeping about 95% of every fare. GediGoo charges 5% commission plus GST on that commission (as required by law) — that works out to about 95% of the fare reaching you, and we show the exact split on every ride in the app.

GediGoo is hiring driver partners right across the Chandigarh Tricity:
A Public Service Vehicle badge is the authorisation a driver needs to carry passengers for hire in India. It sits alongside your driving licence and is issued by the transport authority of the state or union territory you apply in.
Carrying passengers commercially requires the correct driving licence endorsement and vehicle permit under the Motor Vehicles Act. Exactly what you need depends on your licence, your vehicle and where it is registered, so confirm your own case with the licensing authority before you commit.
Applications go through the licensing authority for your area — the Registering & Licensing Authority in Chandigarh, or the relevant district transport office in Punjab or Haryana for Mohali, Kharar, Zirakpur and Panchkula. Many steps can be started online at the Parivahan Sewa portal.
Typically your existing driving licence, proof of identity and address, passport-size photographs, a medical certificate on the prescribed form, and any required training or conduct certificate. Check the current list with the authority, as requirements are revised from time to time.
Fees and processing times are set by the authority and change periodically. We deliberately do not quote figures here, because an out-of-date number is worse than none — ask the office or check Parivahan directly.
You can download the app and start the registration at any time. Your documents are reviewed before you go live, and our team will tell you exactly what is still outstanding. Verification is free.
